Bowl with ‘Big Brothers, Big Sisters’ of Clarksville

Thinking about dusting off those bowling shoes? Then be sure to join Big Brothers. Big Sisters of Clarksville for Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2018! Meet us at the lanes at The Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center on Saturday May 12 from noon – 5pm for Brothers Big, Sisters of Clarksville’s signature fundraiser. Whether you are a school, a local business, a civic organization, a government group a bank a weekend warrior or an agent with the Chief Knows Ft Campbell Homes team, come join the fun and raise money for a great cause! It’s time to form our team and bring on the challenges!

Remember, It’s not about the score, it’s about impacting the lives of the youth in our local community. You can help Big Brothers. Big Sisters of Clarksville lead our young residents toward a brighter future and provide them a champion (known as a “Big”) to have in their corner who will inspire them to do great things. The mission of Big Brothers. Big Sister is “to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever”. Even if you throw gutter balls, your participation can help Big Brothers. Big Sisters of Clarksville accomplish this mission. Not a bowler? There will also be prizes, dancing and a karaoke contest. Half a million people across the nation come together each year to support their local Big Brothers. Big Sisters through the annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event. It only takes a little effort and the results are life changing. Funds raised through the Bowl for Kids ’ Sake program are vital to Big Brothers. Big Sisters and make a marked impact on the local community.

Where do the funds go? Every BBBS depends upon donations for everything from volunteer background checks to providing ongoing support for children, families and volunteers, in order to help build long lasting and sustainable relationships. Your role in this effort is vital. By participating in Bowl for Kids’ Sake you are helping to raise awareness of the challenges faced by children in the local community. Together we can change the trajectory of a child’s life.

Ready to sign up your team? Here is how you can join the fun:

The minimum donation is $50 per bowler. Your donation includes your game of bowling, shoe rental and a T-shirt. Register, recruit friends and raise money! Form a team(s) of 4-6 bowlers. Register yourself and/or your team. Pick up donation envelopes or arrange to have them delivered. Collect donations! Arrive at your bowling center on the day of bowling 30 minutes prior to your bowling time to sign in, turn in donations, and receive your lane assignments. Relax, Have Fun, and Bowl for Kids’ Sake!

Launched in Clarksville in 1975, Big Brothers, Big Sisters began as a mentoring organization to serve children who came from primarily single parent homes. Over the years, Big Brothers. Big Sisters of Clarksville has grown into a premier mentoring agency that matches children between the ages of 6-12 with a caring mentor (or “Big”). Roughly 29% of the children served by Big Brother, Big Sisters locally have a parent who is incarcerated.

Once a child is matched with a mentor, they plan outings and adventures based on their common interests. Mentoring usually focuses on critical areas such as social skills, building self-esteem, academic skills and steering the child toward a path of success for their future. Children who are paired with a mentor have shown a decrease in tendencies toward delinquent behavior and an increased interest in finishing school and pursuing higher education
